Restaurant Review: By Chloe in Los Angeles, CA

I finally got to try the brand new By Chloe that opened recently in the new 365 by Whole Foods market up in the Silver Lake area of Los Angeles. Of course, I have been drooling over the original By Chloe restaurants that opened in New York City, so you can imagine how excited I was that we got our very own version here in SoCal!! Since this version of By Chloe is attached to the Whole Foods store, it is a little small, but I think they did a great job with utilizing the space, and there is a variety of seating, from a larger communal-style table, to bistro-type seating and even a few little booths. The design itself mirrors that of the NYC By Chloe restaurant and is fresh, airy, and adorable.

Decisions, decisions!

By Chloe is a completely vegan restaurant - everything is plant-based and free of any animal ingredients. You order at the counter and then pick up your food when it's ready, which makes it quick and convenient. I believe the menu is the same as the NYC locations and it is packed with all sorts of goodies! They offer salads, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, and, of course, desserts! I went the night before Eat Drink Vegan (which you can read about HERE) with three friends. We arrived around 9 PM and surprisingly it wasn't too busy, which meant we got our food fast and found an open table.

The cute interior of By Chloe! Ordering counter, seating area, dessert case,
neon burger and fries signs! The design of the whole place is so adorable!

We ordered a few dishes to share, including the Whiskey BBQ Burger ("smoky portobello mushrooms and seitan, sauteed kale, onion marmalade, grilled pineapple, bourbon BBQ, potato bun"), the Pesto Meatball Sandwich ("Italian meatballs [portobello + veggie], marinara, sweet peppers, basil pesto, cashew mozz, almond parm, potato sub roll"), Air Baked French Fries, Kale Artichoke Dip ("with almond parm + tortilla chips"), Mac n' Cheese ("sweet potato-cashew cheese sauce, shiitake bacon, almond parm"), and a Raspberry Tiramisu Cupcake.

Our By Chloe feast!

Everything was delicious, but the table's unanimous favorite was the Pesto Meatball Sandwich. It was SO good and SO flavorful! I also really enjoyed the Whiskey BBQ Burger, especially paired with the crispy, perfectly salted air baked fries, which came with unique and yummy beet ketchup and chipotle aioli. The mac n' cheese was also tasty, and that shiitake bacon on top was YUM!

The Raspberry Tiramisu Cupcake was fluffy, moist, and filled with a
delectable raspberry jelly! What a great way to finish off a great meal!

I can't wait to go back to By Chloe, because there are so many things I want to try, like the Kale Caesar, the Guac Burger, the Avocado Pesto Pasta, their juices/smoothies, and more of the desserts, like the Chlostess cupcake (they were sold out when I went). Plus, they are going to start serving brunch soon!

If you are in the SoCal area, I definitely recommend checking out By Chloe - the ambiance is great, service is friendly and fast, and the food is delicious!
